In this day and age of scientific skepticism - and prejudice - in regard to spirit and spiritualism, it is, in my mind, somewhat of a miracle to have received, not one, but two letters from very public officials on a fairly controversial issue. It speaks highly of their (and their legislative aides') intelligence, and, in my mind, their foresight. Nowhere have I received more hostile comments than in my criticisms of psychology. But criticism and questions are ordinarily part and parcel of scientific investigation. And the truth is that science has NOT done a proper study of people who have spiritual experiences. That is just a fact. The other fact is that the "norm" in psychology is that spirit and spirituality are NOT OK and generally viewed negatively as mental illness. I believe that is a major influence in the younger generation leaving the "church" as it were. While American affiliation with organized religion has fallen drastically according to the 2017 PRRI study, of English people only 4% of those under 24 are affiliated with the Anglican church - which is, as the article noted, "catastrophic" for the Anglican church.
